Rural Water Supply Program

Our region is going to need a renewable water supply system.  While we've not built this type of system before, the Bureau of Reclamation has built these types of water systems throughout the American West.

This program allows our region to receive assistance with planning our regional water system, and also allows us to pursue loan guarantees that can reduce the costs of borrowing money to build this system.

The Bureau of Reclamation has just rolled out its Rural Water Supply Program. DCWRA's Appraisal Study was approved over the summer of 2010, opening the door to a Feasibility Study. Funding for the pursuit is being funded in part by a $600,000 grant from the Colorado Water Conservation Bureau.

The regional effort will be guided by a committee of seven representatives from the S. Metro Water Supply Authority, the Rural Water Authority of Douglas County, the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners, and Douglas County Water Resource Authority.
